FAQ

Hi! Here are some of the questions you guys ask me the most! Welcome to She Travelled the World
HOW DID YOU GET INTO BLOGGING?
After the move from Australia to England in 2016 and a year of on and off travel throughout Europe, I found myself falling more and more in love with backpacking as well as photography. My (ex) boyfriend kept trying to push me towards beginning a blog and after months of shutting down the idea, just before my nineteenth birthday I took the leap and began She Travelled the World to write about my adventures and keep friends back home up to date with my whereabouts. Check out my about page to learn about me and my journey!
HOW ARE YOU ABLE TO LIVE IN EUROPE?
I am very fortunate to have two citizenships, Australian and English. I was born in England, and because my Dad already had English citizenship I was able to obtain one as well. Then, when I moved to Australia at 3 years old I obtained an Australian citizenship and lived in Brisbane till I was 18. My English passport allows me to travel throughout Europe consistently and without worry of visas (for now).
WHERE IS TOP OF YOUR BUCKETLIST?
My list is constantly evolving and growing with every destination I visit. It's so hard to pinpoint a single place, but on the list is Mongolia, the Arctic, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Turkey, Peru, Brazil, Egypt and Vietnam to just name a few. There are also a lot of places I would love to revisit such as Malta, Switzerland, Nepal, India and Denmark.
WHAT CAMERA EQUIPMENT DO YOU USE?
You can find a breakdown of my camera and lenses in my camera equipment blog post here!
HOW DO YOU EDIT YOUR PHOTOS?
All my photos are edited on Adobe Lightroom with my Lightroom Presets, which I sell on my shop. If you're a beginner in photography and you are looking to develop your editing skills or you want to get into travel blogging I highly recommend installing Lightroom. Check out my preset Instagram (@shetravelledtheworldpresets) for some before and afters and my Youtube video all about How I edit my Photos!
HOW DO YOU DECIDE WHERE TO GO FOR YOUR UPCOMING TRIPS?
For me, researching trips is one of my favourite parts of the planning. First, I scout Skyscanner for cheap flights and will normally look out for places I haven't been to or look interesting. I will then do a little research through blogs, Instagram and Pinterest to see if it's somewhere that interests me (99% of places do) and to see if it is viable with my budget. After that I will do a bit more research about how expensive the country is, and if everything looks good, I will book the trip! You can check out my Youtube video all about Planning you First Solo Trip for some inspiration and advice!
HOW DO YOU AFFORD TO TRAVEL SO MUCH?
When I first started travelling I was working full time at a cafe and would take whatever chance I got to go on a little getaway. Usually the trips would last a few days to a week at the most and usually involved a lot of partying with a little bit of sightseeing. I always travelled with friends, staying in hostels and cooking for ourselves, which meant we could spend more money on going out! After starting my blog in 2017 I slowly began to build up several different revenue streams to help me travel longer and more frequently, including my shop, website development, brand collabs and affiliate marketing.
WHERE DO YOU RECOMMEND TRAVELLING TO FOR FIRST TIME SOLO TRAVELLERS?
There are a long list of countries I think would be an amazing for first time solo travellers. My first solo trip was to Luxembourg which is a very sweet, quiet country, however I think the majority of European countries would be amazing for travelling by yourself. Italy, Croatia, Greece, Spain, Portugal, Germany and Hungary to name a few. Thailand, Vietnam, Australia, New Zealand and Canada are among some other countries which I also recommend, however if you are in love with adventure go to wherever your wildest dreams lead to.
